Mission 001 - Sortie! The Twisted Colony

Aero (00:34:14): (For those who missed the Flit post.) The Unity Group has been called in for it's first real operation. The Space Colony of is in the path of both the Unknown Enemies AND the Wulgaru. A few members of the Unity Group have been called in to assist with it's defense. So what is everyone in the Colony at the moment up to?
Wyverncakes (00:35:28): Flit's helping run the final tests on the AGE-1.
Wyverncakes (00:35:42): Or rather, re-testing. He's anxious. Very, very anxious.
Wyverncakes (00:36:38): Setting the AGE Device in the Gundam to activate it, seeing that the data gathering goes as predicted, and that the AGE Builder can then turn that data into information about weapons development...
kamikasei (00:37:29): Cathy and Liz are running through the pre-flight checks on the Rose! This is the first time it or they have deployed in earnest and it's against two unstoppable alien enemies at once, so they're focused on the ritual of it all to calm their nerves. The Rose can be seen making small, precise flexes and stretches, its armor skin mesh shifting and reconfiguring into a smooth outer shell for combat.
Wyverncakes (00:37:42): The UE only show up once every seven years, and he knows that the first test of the AGE System against them will be critical.
griefgathering (00:38:23): May is looking over some extra precautions for Merrygate. They're in space, and that's not the kind of environment Nexts are designed for, so better to be safe than sorry.
Ginkan SK (00:39:33): Russel is there near by checking out his own machine and has just been talking to Flit, he's now going over his own check list again to be certain.
sketchbookfiend (00:40:43): Ryuichi is trying to keep his calm and prepare his mind for this mission because holyshityouguysspace.
Aero (00:42:04): Suddenly, the sound of very clear explosions ring out through the Colony. Anyone who's outside can see that they're coming from the business district of the colony. The attackers? Several dragon-like mobile suits. The UE have somehow infiltrated the Colony.
Wyverncakes (00:42:17): Flit: "N-no!"
Wyverncakes (00:42:20): Oh boy...
Wyverncakes (00:42:42): On one hand, Flit... congratulations your calculations about where the Vagans would attack were correct! Huzzah!
Aero (00:42:44): They've gone straight for the area with the most civilians. How kind of them.
Wyverncakes (00:43:18): On the other side of it though... bad memories. Lots of them. Of the attack on Ovan and the lives that were lost there, including his mother's.
Wyverncakes (00:43:40): "It's happening again..."
griefgathering (00:44:00): May: "...! What about the defense forces?!"
griefgathering (00:44:20): Other than the UG, that is.
Aero (00:44:27): Bruzar: "Unity Group PIlots, can you hear me?"
Aero (00:44:51): You're all addressed by the Commander of the military base in Nora.

Ginkan SK (00:45:17): Russel is already responding the clip board is dropepd he's already springing for his machine. "Get to your machine and perpare to deploy." Russel knows how bad the Unknown Enemy are. They go for the largest blood bath they can cause then vanish for a number of years. "This is Lt Bagman, go ahead we're getting ready launch the moment the order's given sir."
griefgathering (00:46:21): May: "This is Merrygate, awaiting orders..."
Aero (00:47:32): Bruzar: "If you can hear me, the UE are attacking from two fronts. Our defense forces are currently busy with a large group of them outside the Colony. It'll be up to you to deal with the units that made it inside of the Colony. "
Wyverncakes (00:47:53): Flit: "Commander..."
sketchbookfiend (00:48:22): Ryuichi jerks a bit because this has taken him out of his stupor and made him kind of freaked again. But he has to help. He's got to protect people.
Wyverncakes (00:48:23): "Is Largan with the defenders then?"
Aero (00:50:12): Bruzar nods. "We might need you to move the Age-1 to the Diva. We can't risk the UE destroying the machine while it's sitting there helpless."
Aero (00:50:28): As if on cue another group of gray machines burst out from out of nowhere and start firing at everything.
Wyverncakes (00:50:33): Flit: "Just... move it out of the way?"
Wyverncakes (00:50:42): "Commander, the AGE-1 can still fight!"
Aero (00:51:00): Bruzar: "Flit you are not prepar-"

Wyverncakes (00:52:27): Sorry Bruzar.
Wyverncakes (00:53:21): Flit's not going to just let the UE run roughshod over another colony! He's going to be getting into the Gundam alright, but to move it onto the battlefield where it needs to be!
Wyverncakes (00:53:54): Shield? Check. Beam spraygun? Check. Beam daggers? Check. If more weapons are going to be needed... well, that's what the AGE Builder is for.
Wyverncakes (00:54:15): "Flit Asuno... Gundam AGE-1! Launching!"
kamikasei (00:55:16): Cathy: "And there I was looking forward to a nice, clean outdoors deployment... ready for some urban warfare, Liz?"
Ginkan SK (00:55:19): Russel is already entering his Personal Trooper's cockpit. "Flit we'll deal with this. You focus on getting the Gundam out of here, and your crew. We can't afford to lose it, you or them." Russel's machine seals up the cockpit and it's optic band flares to life as it moves to launch after grabing a M90 assault rifle. Russel figured he wouldn't stop Flit so he makes up his mind the kid will live to see tommrow even if it kills him.
griefgathering (00:55:46): May narrows her eyes on the enemies. "These guys...!" *Seeing as she's already in her machine, the Lynx tries to take any opening she can get. Unfortunately, using explosives in a colony is also a bad idea, so she's only got that rifle to depend on. Merrygate fires twice at the nearest Unknown Enemy!+
Ginkan SK (00:57:03): The Gespenst launches shortly after Flit does. "Russel Bagman, Gespenst launching!" With that his machine races out just after. "Keep check on your heavy weapons. We're in a civilian area try to force them into close combat if you can. If you can't or are closing use your best judgement.
Wyverncakes (00:57:22): * Tough luck, Russel, Flit's not changing his mind on this. Out on the battlefield that that is the Nora colony, Flit draws a bead on the same UE that the Merrygate is and fires again and again to get its attention!+
Ginkan SK (00:57:52): Russel's machine fires off trio of bursts from his rifle at a pair of the alien mecha.
sketchbookfiend (00:58:29): Ryuichi steels himself and glows as he holds out the Draco stone. "Surge! Aotatsu!" A swirling surge of water comes out of nowhere and engulfs him, exploding upwards, before icing over as it takes on the form of his machine. The Aotatsu launches out to meet the enemy behind everyone else.
Aero (00:58:57): [May and Flit AND Russel] The bullets and shots from the beam spray gun ping off of the Unknown Enemies, their visors light up and they seem like they're quickly scanning the three machines before charging at them. Unleashing a storm of beams from their palms. [Everyone react]
kamikasei (00:59:01): *The Rose takes up its beam rifle and runs for cover, widening the mesh on its left arm to act as a shield while it finds a vantage point from which to fire on the UE invaders. Cathy tries to aim to minimize collateral damage, while Liz feeds her updates on the status of the civilians in the area.+
Aero (00:59:06): [Everyone as in the three of you.]
Aero (01:00:44): [Cathy/Liz] The fourth shot is the same as the first, second and third. The beam doesn't seem like it affects the dragon-like machine at all. The machine transforms into a more beastial shape and lunges at Rose with it's claws. [React]

griefgathering (01:02:09): May: *Merrygate won't risk using Primal Armor here, so May will try to dodge in hopes that her armor will hold if she's hit.+

Wyverncakes (01:02:27): * The charging dragon though is going to be rudely disturbed by the charging AGE-1, the Gundam rocketing into the UE suit shield first, as it ditches the spray gun to plunge a beam dagger into its backside!+
Ginkan SK (01:03:37): *Russel moves his machine fard attemptiong to evade the majority of the fire even as he closes. He's got a plan but he's got to get up close -

Aero (01:03:46): [May] The armor holds but you can see your AP going down a bit. Another UE comes out of nowhere, igniting the beam saber in it's palm and stabs it towards Merrygate. [React]

kamikasei (01:05:12): Cathy: "Liz, foam!" Fortunately Liz doesn't need verbal instructions to follow her intent, as sections of the left arm shield bubble and thicken to form solid armor plates to meet the dragon's claws as the Rose rolls back and up onto its feet again. With its beam rifle it fires a low-powered shot at the UE's feet, aiming to produce a cloud of dust and vapour to blind it without damaging the colony wall!+

sketchbookfiend (01:06:08): *Aotatsu rushes to try and tackle one of these Grey jerks with his shield out front to smash them. Surely this can't possibly go wrong since everyone seems to be shooting lasers.+
Aero (01:06:11): [Flit] The beam dagger is able to pierce into that UE. The machine struggles a bit as it's getting shanked but eventually the movements stop. Flit you might want to let go of that though. [React to you know what]

griefgathering (01:06:26): May: *Dodging ain't going to cut this, so May opts to use her rifle as a shield and try to knock the enemy's palm from pointing where it wants to, followed by a close range bazooka shot! (even if it damages her too)+
Wyverncakes (01:08:48): * For a moment, the fact that he just took down a UE suit is sinking in for Flit and the sensation is... good. That he- OH CRAP HE'S GETTING TARGETED BY ANOTHER ONE OF THEM! Flit falls back, raising his shield up again for protection!+
kamikasei (01:09:16): (Retcon: skip the foaming and switch the same ground shot to the UE attacking May instead)
Aero (01:10:40): [May and Cathy] The beam saber's aim is completely off due to the dust and is easily knocked away from Merrygate. The UE eats a point-blank bazooka shot. The torso of the machine is blown to bits and your AP only took a bit of damage from that. [Take another action you two]
Wyverncakes (01:11:18): ^ (Herp and derp, Steam forgot UE suits just need to self desctruct. Same action, just defending against the inevitable explosion)
Aero (01:11:30): [Russel] The customized Gespenst has no problems weaving through the shots and you make your way closer to the UE. Again the visor glows and it charges with a beam saber. [React/Continue your action?]
Aero (01:12:33): [Ryuichi] The jerk dragon is knocked back and from the sounds it's visor is making it doesn't seem pleased. It charges at you in an attempt to tackle you back. [react/continue]
griefgathering (01:13:41): May: (to Cathy & Liz) "Thanks for the save."
kamikasei (01:13:47): Cathy: "So, explosives and beam melee, not ranged beam attacks." The Rose slings its rifle on its back and deploys a beam saber into its right hand, charging at the second UE attacking Flit - moving fluidly so that at the last minute she ducks low, cutting at its legs and up at the torso!+
kamikasei (01:14:12): Liz: "We're here to back each other up, right?"
Wyverncakes (01:14:25): Flit can't help but smile a little bit.
Wyverncakes (01:14:36): "Yes. The UE are an enemy of everyone!"
Wyverncakes (01:14:45): "So we'll all fight them together!"
Wyverncakes (01:14:57): And he's still got his other beam dagger which he draws out!
Ginkan SK (01:15:00): *Russel's Gespenst move quickly the rifle is retruened to it's dock and the plasma stakes on the arm start to charge up as Russel moves in. "JET MAGNUM!" Russel's machine lunges in trying to get in other the other unit gar to rapidly make use of the plasma stakes up close to get the alien machine in the mid section.-
Aero (01:15:17): [Flit] Thanks to the last minute shield raise the damage from the explosion is minimal. You need to remember important facts about your most hated enemy Flit. There's also someone contacting you. It's Vargas. "Flit, the AGE System has collected enough data from that. It's already created a weapon for you!" Well that's convinient. [Take your action Flit]
sketchbookfiend (01:15:23): *Aotatsu's arm twists back as it moves away and then thrusts forward with fingers extended to shoot a pointed burst of water at the Grey.+
Wyverncakes (01:16:33): Flit: "Already?"
Wyverncakes (01:16:49): Well, that was good!
Aero (01:17:15): [Russel] There's not even time for the UE to respond, as the Jet Magnum just rips right through the frail UE frame. The two halves of the dragon explode a few seconds after you pass through it. Dynamic Kill! [Feel free to take another action]
Aero (01:17:48): Vargas: "Hehe, don't underestimate the Age System. We're sending it out to you right now."
griefgathering (01:18:06): May: "I'd be of more use, but this isn't the kind of location where I can perform. So instead..." *More plinking rifle shots ahoy! May might not prefer precision, but she's a decent shot as a ranged combatant, and tries to knock some of those Dragons' hands, off!+
Aero (01:18:06): Some kind of large pole is fired out from one of the buildings towards the Age-1.
griefgathering (01:18:29): May: "What's this?"
Wyverncakes (01:18:31): And the AGE-1 rockets out to grab the weapon, first in one hand...
Wyverncakes (01:18:40): ... But then joining its first with the second!
Wyverncakes (01:18:50): And then, from the circular attachment at one end...
Wyverncakes (01:19:14): ... A pinwheel of beam blades shoot out, creating the image of like a beam weedwhacker or pizza cutter!
Aero (01:19:25): [Cathy] In terms of mobility the UE is kind of outmatched here. The machine attempts to slash back but quickly loses it's footing and is bisected in half. [Same as before feel free to keep going.]
Wyverncakes (01:19:53): "'Beam Rolling Lance'," he repeats off of a readout inside of the cockpit...
Wyverncakes (01:20:20): "Trying to add additional shearing force to a melee weapon to help breach UE armor easier..."
Wyverncakes (01:21:12): * And even if it won't work out that well? Well, the AGE System's all about trial and error, and developing new weaponry! The Gundam then charges at another rampaging UE suit, swinging the weapon to cleave through the machine's midsection!+
Ginkan SK (01:21:42): *Russel's machine keeps moving as one alien is down with more to go after the next nearest alien unit. He's having a hard time of it and does not want to think like what it would be like to be in a stock Genoace. He fires a split missile pod as he closes on the next one. "Good work people keep it up and don't let them draw you off!"
Aero (01:22:49): [Ryuichi] The dragon stops dead in it's track. The burst of water has ripped a very large hole right through the center of the machine. He was kind of underestimating you there...and paid for it. [Feel free to keep going]
Aero (01:22:55): (Gray Unknown Enemies x5)
kamikasei (01:23:37): Cathy's riding something of a high here from having successfully taken down one of the fearsome UE! She turns, the Rose crouching low, pointed towards another enemy before it charges, making a jet-assisted jump at the last moment to unexpectedly slash at it from above!+
kamikasei (01:23:49): Liz: "Ms Greenfield, please draw its attention!"
griefgathering (01:24:34): May: "On it!"
sketchbookfiend (01:25:02): Ryuichi: "Huh, you know I kind of expected them not to be as frail-"
griefgathering (01:25:18): (Consider that last action a support to Cathy+Liz)
Wyverncakes (01:25:28): Flit: "They haven't been active for seven years... a lot can change in that span of time!"
Aero (01:25:43): [Flit] The beam rolling lance slices through the UE like a hot knife through butter. Despite being kind of awkward, the weapon worked like a charm. Another UE, seeing his brethren fall charges at Age-1. [React]
Wyverncakes (01:25:46): "Especially when, for once, we're ready for them!"
griefgathering (01:26:31): May: "I still wouldn't underestimate them. Keep your guard up."
Wyverncakes (01:27:09): * Well, the Lance has passed its trial by fire at any rate... no reason to not keep using it! The AGE-1 rockets forward to meet its charge, bringing the weapon down onto the alien mech's head!+
Aero (01:27:43): [Cathy and May] For a moment the dragon looks ready to parry the slash, at the last moment the arm of the machine is knocked away and before it can see the culprit behind that it's cleaved in two.
Aero (01:29:50): [Russel] Again the UE seem to underestimate your machines. What it was expecting was a single missile, what it got was a swarm of them suddenly appearing from that missile. When the explosions finally end the UE is scattered across the base.
sketchbookfiend (01:31:19): Ryuichi: "I guess even aliens can get rusty."
Aero (01:31:24): [Flit] This UE fairs no better. The rolling cutter digs into the head and the UE now regrets running into a spinning blade made of energy. With little effort needed from you the machine is cut in half.
Aero (01:31:35): (Gray Unknown Enemies x1)
griefgathering (01:32:23): May: "Good going, Flit. One left!"
Aero (01:32:34): This seems to be a rather overwhelming victory...before the colony wall to the left of all of you suddenly explodes.
Wyverncakes (01:32:53): Flit: "I know, we're actua- n-no!"
griefgathering (01:32:58): May: "!?"
Aero (01:33:00): The remaining UE makes a break for the new escape path
Aero (01:33:15): MEANWHILE...OUT IN SPACE.
Aero (01:34:09): Team Rabbits! You've had a rather weird day. After failing so hard you've all been given new machines and brought in the Godinion to help Nora. How are you all feeling in your cockpits?

tengusaur (01:35:40): Asagi tries to focus, not stress too hard, and ignore his stomach starting to let itself known. Moderate success with that.
tormterra (01:35:48): Kei is quiet. Very quiet. Not that that is particularly unusual, but a sequence of events this weird prompts further thought. "Yeah..."
Meraxa (01:35:57): "Who'd have ever thought he'd be our leader?" Ataru mutters to himself, staring at his screens.
tengusaur (01:36:30): Asagi: "I can only guess what they were thinking..."

Ginkan SK (01:36:44): *Russel is a bit stunned the split Missiles must have hit something vital. His machine turns to follow up after the last UE as it's trying to escape. "It's the last one watch your six but we need to make sure it doesn't get away. Watch for ambush, it might be trying to lead us into a trap."-
Aero (01:37:03): The Battlefield ahead looks like complete chaos. There seems to be hundreds of UE units and there are ESUN ships that are apparently trying to load up civilians.

Aero (01:38:34): Simon: "Team Rabbits, your mission here is to help with the evacuation. We've just gotten word that the colony support systems are failing. You need to make sure those ships are defended. Do you all understand?"

Aero (01:39:56): Bruzar: "Unity Group we're planning on evacuating the civilians in the Colony. Despite the awkward situation we need you to get outside and help the defense forces."
Aero (01:40:08): Bruzar: "Flit you need to get the Age-1 to the Diva."
tormterra (01:40:12): Kei: "Roger that, we're going on...What are your orders, Izuru?" The last question isn't exactly marked by great faith. As she talks, it becomes clear that Purple-2 has the same issues, just kinda hovering in place
griefgathering (01:40:46): May: "Merrygate copies. Moving now!" And the green Next will proceed as ordered.
Wyverncakes (01:41:23): Flit: "Understood, commander..."
tormterra (01:41:23): Kei: "It's happening to all of us. Do you know anything Instructor Suzukaze?"
Aero (01:41:48): Simon: "Your survival instinct is moving it."
Aero (01:41:53): Simon answers for her.
Wyverncakes (01:41:56): As much as he'd like to run off and continue playing UE Killer, he knows at some point he actually is going to have to get to the Diva though.
Ginkan SK (01:42:00): Russel: "Understood command, moving out."
Meraxa (01:42:18): Ataru turns his head. Survival instinct....?
Wyverncakes (01:42:33): And thus the AGE-1 breaks off from everyone else, attaching the Rolling Lance to its back and heading towards one of the hangars.
tengusaur (01:42:42): Asagi: "Survival..." Well yeah, he doesn't want to die here.
Aero (01:42:48): Simon: "Unless you decide to fight the Juria System defensive systems will remain active."
kamikasei (01:42:49): Cathy: "Roger."
Aero (01:43:02): Simon: "Fight or Flight...there's no other options."
sketchbookfiend (01:43:04): Ryuichi nods, "Innocents first. Aye aye."

Ginkan SK (01:44:12): Russel's machine is now heading for the nearest exit point from the colony. "We need to buy our allies time."

Now that's he's in space however he's not as held back on what weapons he uses the folding two way canon is removed from it's dock and flips out into it's deployed mode. Russel lines up a shot and opens fire sending a burst of plasma into the enemy's ranks.-

"We have to get after the missile!" Kei would also get the data, the Gespenst F2W Canon might be bale to help with the missile if Russel could get a full powered shot off against it. "Understood." Russel knows not to argue his unit is an irrgular unit and this one's far more organize as his machine deploys and he launches two split missile pods after the units that Rose-3 just broke up.-

"Thanks for the assist lets not stop here we're far form finished." There's a lot of work left to do namely he's going to try to target one of the planet killer missile he'll line up the shot as the canon folds out and starts to charge as he does so, he fires more split missiles as a means to distract the enemy or clear the way, a moment later he opens fire with a powerful focused plasma beam heading for the missile. He may be open to counter attack from then aliens but it's a price he's willing to pay. They have to protect the evacuation ships-

"I have your back!" Russle's machine is going to move to one launch some chaff and two do what he can to help protects Izuru.-

Russels is rattled, he is a soldier and experianced one he'll let himself feel later. He's got to maek sure they dock safely. "No one can ever say the Commander did not do his duty, to the very end."
Aero (04:11:56): Despite the loss of Bruzar and the Nora colony the defense...was technically a success. The civilians were evacuated safely, all of the ESUN Ships survived, and most importantly this is the first time that both the Wulgaru and the UE have successfully been defeated in a battle.
