Getting and running HexChat

1. Go to this page, download and install the appropriate version for your OS.

2. When you run HexChat, pick whatever nick you want (you can change it while connected). From available servers, choose DarkMyst. If it's not on your list, select New, Edit, as the server name input irc.darkmyst.org or irc.darkmyst.org/6667

3. After connecting to the server, join SRWU channels. It's /join #srwuooc for the ooc channel, and /join #srwumission(number) for the ic channel.

Running KiwiIRC (no installation required)

1. Go to this site, select Try Me.

2. Select nickname as you want, for channel input #srwuooc. Expand the server and network tab below, for server input irc.darkmyst.org. Port is 6667, as default.

3. Once you're on the ooc channel, you can /join #srwumission(number) to enter the ic channel. If you ever quit the ooc channel for some reason, rejoin it by /join #srwuooc

Basic commands

/join #channel - to join a channel obviously

/nick - change your displayed name

/me - perform an action on the channel. Use in moderation

/topic - change the channel's topic, useful for initiative orders and such. You need to be an op to do that.

Taking logs (HexChat)

1. Window -> Save Text

2. Save the log somewhere, possibly as a .txt file for ease of access

3. Because the log saves nicks in sharp brackets, you may need to find and replace all < into [ and > into ] in the log file to prevent DW from freaking out when the log is posted.
